WHO has estimated that globally around 450 million people suffer from mental disorders. Currently, mental and behavioural disorders account for about 12% of the global burden of diseases. India has been staggering on the verge of mental health crisis.

According to reports, 6-7% of India's population lives with minor to major mental health concerns, ranging from depression and anxiety, to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder among others. Nearly 11% of people over 18 years of age are suffering from a mental disorder that needs "active interventions".
