I had two scenarios :- 1) pt with on & off h/o PR bleed from last 4 days small amount now attending ER to get check up. No active bleeding but Hb is 7 but pt is not symptomatic. Would I give him transfusion and if yes how many and y and if not thn y not? 2) pt attending ER with abdo pain and nausea diagnosed with cholecystitis with child kith as is with HB 6.5 but not symptomatic from anaemia point of view. Again Would I give him transfusion and if yes how many and y and if not thn y not?
Though clinically both pts r pale but not symptomatic and not actively bleeding. & second pt didn't have any h/o bleeding. I gave transfusion one unit each in both pt and I have been shouted upon....but my senior still didn't give answer but only told tht unless v r operating thn there is no need to transfuse otherwise as pts were asymptomatic.
