Researchers have developed an Injectable bandage, a therapeutic gel which has the potential to heal fatal internal injuries. Penetrating injuries, battlefield wounds can be healed and the individual can be saved. Here a gelling agent, commonly used in pastries is used by the researchers to fabricated this bandage which promotes wound healing. These injectable hydrogels were prepared by using kappa-carrageenan and nanosilicates which promoted hemostasis and facilitated wound healing. This injectable bandage solidifies after injecting in wound area and promotes the natural clotting cascade.
It also initiates a wound healing response after achieving hemostasis. These injectable bandages also showed a prolonged release of therapeutic agent an help in wound healing.
