The Medical Teaching Fraternity in our country is different from anywhere else in the world. We possibly qualify for a Guinness Book of World Record for having the highest population of Full Professors in the world, but unfortunately haven’t applied for the award. Nowhere in the world is Professorship granted based on a time scale. We have the distinction of developing a unique promotion model, in that anybody selected as faculty in our Medical Institutes becomes a full Professor, in most of our universities, on completion of 12 years teaching experience.
We also have the unique distinction of creating a post of Director Professor, which is unheard of in the rest of the world. Delhi, being the capital of the country, leads in this creative, innovative and imaginative progress.
