Once again unfortunately it is the pediatrician that has come under scanner. Neonates who are delivered healthy by c section are given antibiotics like piperacillin injection without ever thinking about resistance to antibiotics that may develop. When asked all the pediatrician say is that they want to avoid hospital acquired infection.What are the chances? Those injections are given without consent of the parents. Should'nt they be consulted atleast before giving those injections? That too it in a private set up that charge exorbitant rates.
If they charge so much isn't it their responsibility to maintain environment that prevents infection? Why are we becoming callous in our attitudes? I know every life is precious but especially that of babies who are innocent. Is making money so much important as to play with life of children? What if it was the pediatrician's own child?
