Patient has fever doctor give him treatment and send home as hospitalization was not needed. The patient got some relief and again after someday he had a fever. The second doctor was consulted who also gave the injection and oral medications and also not felt a need of hospitalization but before giving intramuscular injection syringe with needle fell on the ground which was used without sterilization. After 2 days injected site swelled and became painful with rise in fever. The patient again admitted in 3rd hospital where he was found to have left hemothorax, intravascular coagulation and septicemia along with injection abscess with gas gangrene formation.
During treatment patient died. Consumer court held first two doctors negligent for not advising hospitalization. During the trial, a second doctor died. The court directed the first doctor to pay the full amount of 4lacs to patients…
