Various medical devices like stents, intraocular lenses, orthopedic devices have become an integral part of practice. But, the cost has a lot of variations irrespective of their indigenous or imported manufacturing. Patients have no option for these devices as most of the times doctors don't take responsibility for any adverse events which seems to be justified.
Doctors actual fee for using these devices is very less in comparison to selling profits. At times, the high cost of devices paid by patients become cause of violence against doctors. What is your opinion and do you think these should also be regulated like the national list of essential medicines?
