Hospitalization and deaths due to COVID-19 were higher than the influenza-related complications among young children in the USA. To prevent COVID-19 in young children, a group of researchers from the USA and Canada studied the safety, efficacy, immunogenicity, and reactogenicity of the mRNA-1273 COVID-19 vaccine in young children aged six months to five years.
