India is all set to be hit economically by the impact of climate change, significantly so by 2025. You would be surprised to know  that more than automotive exhaust emissions, it is “animal agriculture’ which is contributing to the “ Greenhouse effect ”. The billions of animals raised for slaughtering are, through digestion and excretion, releasing a huge amount of methane. Methane is 84 times more effective than Carbon dioxide in heat trapping. Nitrous Oxide is 300 times more potent than Co2 ,in this respect and the dairy ,meat and poultry industry is responsible for its growing emission.

Raising animals for food requires a huge amount of water . To grow 1kg of vegetable we need about 322 litres of water.
