Hypertension is one of the major complication during the gestation period. It is always a critical situation to manage a dangerously high blood pressure during late pregnancy. Apart from the range of antihypertensive agents, methyldopa is always preferred during pregnancy based on its safety and efficacy towards both mother and fetus. Similarly, labetalol is also preferred during pregnancy due to same reasons.

However, researchers have reported labetalol as more promising than methyldopa.
