As the community of aging people increases day by day , who has lack of good sleep hours, may be contributing to their memory impairment. Deep sleep or NREM sleep decreases as the population ages leading to decrease storage of information in prefrontal cortex from hippocampus , which is the primary memory strcture.The neurochemical imbalance of galanin (induces )and orexin (inhibits)is contributing towards lack of sleep.It aggravates cardiac problems, diabetes and obesity. Induced sedation cant be considered equivalent to natural sleep.
