When to start levothyroxine after total, sub-total  or near-total thyroidectomy and when should the thyroid function tests be repeated after surgery? And at what intervals?

I would appreciate evidence-based answers for this question as I have to answer this in a query rasied by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi.
