Lung cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. The incidence of lung Cancer is rising alarmingly in India owing to an increase in smoking and air pollution. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) constitutes a large percentage of all lung cancers and is known to metastasize rapidly. Ramucirumab is a recombinant monoclonal antibody which was first approved for gastric/gastroesophageal carcinoma and is now also used as a second line therapy in NSCLC. Ramucirumab stops angiogenesis by blocking the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF 2) pathway, thus disrupting the primary mechanism of cancer metastasis.
