Mammography is a specific type of breast imaging technique which uses low-dose x-rays. The technology is predominantly used to detect early stage cancer. The new study funded by Japanese Government suggests that mammography along with adjunctive ultrasound increases sensitivity and detection rate of early breast cancers. Mammography by far is only proven technique for the detection of breast cancer. The technique shows better results in older women but in younger women it is slightly inaccurate due to denser breasts.
