This new study published in JAMA Ophthalmology Clinical challenge has explained this miracle. This is a case of a 45-year old man who survived a gunshot to his head, without even losing his eyesight. Case A 45-year-old man was presented to ED after being shot with a .22-caliber pistol that passed through a wooden door before entering into his orbit. His ocular history included exotropia and amblyopia. A visual acuity of 20/70 OD and 20/40 Os and normal color vision. There was 3mm of proptosis and right-sided periocular ecchymosis.

The patient had a large angle alternating exotropia, mild supraduction, infraduction, and adduction deficits in the right eye.
