Patient, age 73 yrs female, having a Nose Bleed (Left Nostril), 4 to 5 times during last 3 months, stops within 10 minutes with cold pack application. She has high BP (135/85) which is under control with medication Cilnidipine 10 mg., Metoprolol 25 mg, Clonazepam 0.5mg (Anti-anxiety). ENT doctor suggested cauterization of blood vessels, may be arteries, with local anaesthetic spray. Can this be deferred and continue with the medical line of treatment and for how long?
How safe are the procedure and ensuing complication? Is there any other line of treatment? Would appreciate any feedback? Presently using Xylometazoline 0.1% nasal drops and Neosporine-H ointment locally.
