I feel that generic medicines are , no doubt are cheaper than the branded once and are mainly used in government dispensaries and at government hospitals, are not up to the standard. Their potency is also substandard and they are also not as effective as branded companies medicines. This is my experience and many times I have tried also. Results are not as good as with the standard and of branded pharmaceutical companies medicines.
I feel that is the reason that branded companies medicines are costly but are quite effective. Thus, government should first standardized all medicines potency wise (equally effective) & of same price & quality wise at all pharmaceutical companies, all over. Then only we, doctors can prescribe the generic medicines. What do you think about implementation of this rule by MCI?
