A recent directive of the Medical Council of India (MCI), has mandated all medical colleges to be equipped with fully functional emergency departments by March 31, 2022. Failing to abide by this ordinance can lead to dire consequences. Emergency medicine has gained traction in recent years due to accidents, natural disasters, epidemics, and other related events. It was also observed by the MCI that, a set of emergency specialists in the country has time and again been raising objections to ‘fake’ emergency medicine experts .
In the wake of these events, the MCI has released an ordinance to all medical colleges to be equipped with fully functional emergency departments by 2022 .
