The Medical Council of India has revised the passing criteria for students appearing for PG medical education. In the revision, MCI also mentioned that the examination for M.S., M.D., D.M., M.Ch., shall be held at the end of 3 academic years (six academic terms) and for a diploma at the end of 2 academic years (four academic terms). The academic terms shall mean six months training period. After the revisions, students are now required to obtain a minimum of 40% marks in each of the theory papers.
However, the overall score of the student should not be less than 50% in all the four papers of degree exams three papers of diploma exam. It also states that obtaining 50% marks in the practical examination shall be mandatory for passing the examination as a whole in the said degree/diploma examination.
