A final-year MD anesthesia student at a medical college in Patiala reportedly committed suicide by injecting a harmful substance. The 29-year-old student had been struggling with severe depression and academic stress related to her thesis. Despite receiving treatment for stress, she reportedly found it difficult to manage her workload and had requested a break to focus on her thesis. The tragic incident occurred after she returned to her room from her duties.
The police found no suicide note and have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. In response, the Punjab Medical Education Ministry has formed a committee to investigate the incident and address issues faced by postgraduate students.
