Many NGOs employ BAMS/GAMS in their Allopathic Charitable Dispensaries, so as to save higher salary to be paid to MBBS doctors. Unlike private hospitals, BAMS/GAMS at charitable allopathic dispensaries are not under supervision of a qualified allopathic doctor. In private hospitals, the specialists rectify the errors committed by the BAMS, but, this is not possible in charitable dispensaries, where BAMS/GAMS treat patients independently. The role of postgraduate doctors ( MS, MD, MCh, DM ) will be most important, if they stop employing BAMS in the charitable allopathic dispensaries, and employ MBBS for this purpose.
