Medical errors caused due to negligence amounting to deterioration of a patient’s health is a failure of a medical practitioner to abide by his fundamental responsibility. In the UAE , according to the Medical Liability Law no. 10 of 2008, Article 14 , medical error is defined as, ‘an error that occurs due to the unfamiliarity of a practitioner with technical aspects which each practitioner is assumed to be familiar with, due to negligence or insufficient effort’ . Here we discuss the medicolegal implications of medical error in the case of a 24-year-old Emirati girl who went into a coma during a septoplasty.
