We usually assume that the field of medicine in ancient India was in a remote, unrefined and unorganized form and in a state of array. Contrary to this belief, when we go through and review the ancient manuscripts, we will be surprised to know that it was well organized and advanced and was in its bloom, not less in any way than what we have today in its form, structure, functioning and in its practical approach, except some technological advances what we have today. Our ancient vaids and sages took every aspect of the profession seriously, laid down principles and guidelines and implemented them effectively with a right spirit.
