Now the research section in any DME office in every state is like an ornament for beauty. One of the former DME of Tamil Nadu gave an interview published in a popular English paper some ten years ago, that there was no research in Tamil Nadu medical colleges. It is a shame on the part of that DME to talk like that when it was his duty to make things happening in research in medical colleges. Who will do it if not DMEs?
This basic duty is not known to that DME is the sorry state of affairs in India related to medical research. Two years ago, the former Director-General of ICMR when presided over the convocation of Dr.M.G.R Medical University in Chennai in the presence of Governor, Chief Minister, and others, said no research in Tamil Nadu. I have sent email to her stating that more research has been done by private players and also sent my research works like Diltiazem in Parkinsonism.…
