I am describing a clinical condition as above in a 50 year old male. He started having dry skin and extreme itching, with bleeding on scratching affecting mostly his lower extremity mostly in the extensor aspect and scrotum, ten years back which did not resolve permanently with any means. Ultimately he developed itch-scratch syndrome followed by chronic scaly dermatitis with areas of lichenification in the affected areas and the disease slowly progressed to upper extremity as well. He had some mild dry eyes on studying for long and mostly in winter dry season, initially when the dermatitis started developing.
But, now he has established Dysfunction of Meibomian secretion, leading to breach in tear film and dry eyes with frequent conjunctivitis and squamous blepharitis. My question is : Are these two different pathologies related? Can anybody address the issue and advise?
