Abstract Cases of medical negligence and professional negligence are increasing day by day in India. It can be attributed to low awareness of ethical regulations and commercialization of medical education and healthcare. In a recent case of professional negligence by doctor and hospital, State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (SCDR), Mumbai awarded compensation of more than 15 lacs with interest @10% from year 2000, decided on 31st July 2015.
Case involves many issues such as: Ethical issues, standard of care, discharge, follow up advise, professional negligence, medical negligence, professional misconduct, deficiency in service, compensation which needs discussion.
