Generally, the number of physicians and other healthcare workers on duty during the after-hours (AH) trauma services is lesser than that for office-hours (OH) trauma services. Hence, there is a misconception that the quality of AH trauma services is poorer than the OH trauma services. Contrary to this popular misconception, a study published in the Journal of Critical Care showed that four public tertiary trauma hospitals in India provided uniform quality services to trauma patients both during the OH and AH.
