The Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has been praised by the British medical journal Lancet for prioritizing universal healthcare with the Ayushman Bharat initiative. Modi is the first Indian PM who has been recognized for his efforts in improving healthcare across the country. In an article by the editor-in-chief of The Lancet, Mr. Richard Horton appreciated the Modi government for recognizing the 'perils of public discontent about health' after years of neglect.
