Multiple myeloma is characterized by the neoplastic proliferation of clonal plasma cells making a monoclonal immunoglobulin. Moreover, myeloma is a heterogeneous disease with variable disease course, response to therapy, and survival outcome. Therefore, evaluation of prognostic factors and risk stratification is imperative to define treatment strategies, compare the outcome of therapeutics, and predict survival from diagnosis.
In this video, Dr. Hakeem Ansar Hussain discusses Multiple myeloma – Plasma cell neoplasms, major classes of immunoglobulins , epidemiology, etiology, clinical manifestations, risk factors, the importance of risk stratification and risk-based management .
