A recent study conducted in a big teaching tertiary care hospital indicated that the trainee doctors and medical students are victims to more than half of the injuries caused by needle pricks from infected needles in hospitals. Could be due to work stress, inadequate experience and training, and incomplete or absence of vaccination. In such cases, highly prevalent infections include HbV and HIV.
