1. CDSCO Considers Direct Import Route for Advanced Medical Equipment The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has proposed a new framework that would allow hospitals to directly import select high-end medical devices, potentially reducing reliance on existing procurement pathways. The draft list includes around 80 devices such as MRI and CT scanners, PET-CT systems, SPECT/SPECT-CT and gamma cameras, mammography units, and X-ray equipment. At present, hospitals must obtain import licenses through CDSCO.

The regulator has invited stakeholder feedback on the proposal and suggestions for additional devices that may be considered under the scheme. 2.
