The National Health Authority (NHA) and the central health ministry are now offering incentives to private hospitals for their participation in the Modicare scheme. The action has been taken to increase public awareness and boost the scheme in lower private sector hospitals. The Modicare scheme is the most acclaimed project of the central government that offers families, a health cover of up to Rs. 5,00,000 per year for the treatment of severe diseases.

The project was designed to reform the country’s health system where the ordinary public faces the issues of delayed treatment options due to overburdening in the public hospitals and could not afford the treatment expenses at the private hospitals.
