A 5 year old child presented with right side Parotid swelling and ear pain from 1 day. The child received 2nd dose of MMR vaccine two weeks back . The Lab investigation showed elevated Serum Amylase 458 and relative Lymphocytosis with normal counts (Total WBC Count 12.0 x10^9/L, Neutrophils 47 % and Lymphocytes 47 %). My question is 1.
Wheather this Parotid swelling is due to Mumps or mini Mumps (as a result of MMR vaccination)? 2. Is it contagious and child should be excluded from school till swelling subside or not? Thanks.
