A liver transplant often results in major abdominal scars, which  is an important patient concern, especially the young population. However, a Bangalore hospital has recently made it possible to perform a liver transplant surgery with minimal scars. The surgery was performed robotically and is considered to be a milestone in the medical field. Recently, a team of doctors at a Bangalore hospital performed a novel robotic liver transplant on a 40-year-old patient suffering from chronic liver failure.

A portion of the 32-year-old donor’s liver was extracted using a robotic arm, which resulted in a minimal 10 cm scar in the bikini area, but not over the abdomen. Usually, liver transplant surgery results in an average of 35cm scar.
