Pelvic venous disorder (PeVD) denotes chronic pelvic pain (CPP) of venous origin. CPP is characterized as more than six months of persistent or intermittent pain localized in the pelvis. Earlier, CPP was referred to as pelvic congestion syndrome, May-Thurner syndrome, and Nutcracker syndrome. The varied terminology creates substantial inconsistency in the definition, diagnosis, and reporting of PeVD, especially regarding its underlying pathophysiology.
