Join Dr. Suresh Pandey for a LIVE surgery on 27th May 2019, where he will cover Phakic Lens Implantation For Correction Of Myopia. Myopia or commonly known as nearsightedness is the visual condition where the increased length of the eyeball or curved nature of cornea renders a blurry sight when objects are far away and clearer sight when objects are near. Phakic intraocular lens (PIOL) is surgically implanted in the ciliary sulcus to correct myopia.
When the laser options like LASIK are contraindicated (due to the thin cornea), these lenses are utilized for correcting high refractive errors produced by myopia. Customized Toric Phakic Lenses are available to correct high myopia up to -30 D (or more) with the cylinder of 10 diopter. Anterior chamber depth (ACD) should be at least 2.8 mm.
