Since 1988 there is almost 99% decrease in the polio cases due to the G lobal Polio Eradication P rogram. It was on January 13, 2011, when the last polio case in India was reported. However, the survivors of polio are always at risk of an o ther disease which is called as post-polio syndrome. It is a nonpreventable disorder and found only in the survivors of polio and has no specific treatment. This article gives an overview of the disease.
