There is lot of concern about transgenders these days . As per IMA: Courts are taking cognizance of the same . The Indian Medical Association, to abide by the SC directive has asked all doctors to henceforth provide three columns for gender-Male/Female/Transgender - while enrolling patients. The letter being suggested for them is '0' or TG. Not going so far we as a doctor are tuned to listening and writing Male, Female. Accordingly, the most suitable medical term for TGs would be 'emale'.
It also rhymes well: male, female, emale; ....A 50-year-old emale presented with the..... Easy to recall (nobody will forget) Logical Straightforward and appealing.
