Synopsis                                                                                                                                                                 A hip fracture is a discontinuity in the upper quarter of the femur bone. Intertrochanteric (IT) fracture means to break in between the trochanters. IT fractures are of two types: stable and unstable. The study aims at developing a specific pre-operative computed tomography (CT) measurements of IT fractures which are predictive of post-operative shortening. This week's  'MED FACT'  discusses a clinical trial from Journal of Orthopaedics, “ CT-measurement predicts shortening of stable intertrochanteric hip fractures” . 2018.
