PET is a common disorder characterised by hypertension oedema albuminuria in a lady who is more than 24 weeks pregnant and it can lead to convulsions the risk factors for PET are Chronic hypertension Kidney diseases Diabetes mellitus Maternal age more than 35 years Placental insufficiency  Family history of PET Obesity Multiple Gestations The fundus picture in PET is Changes in vessels on nasal side  Spasum of vessels Generalised narrowing of retinal arterioles Retinal oedema  Retinal detachment So, fundus examination in PET is very important and if one gets these changes one has to terminate the pregnancy to prevent retinal detachment PET has to be treated in time and promptly so as to prevent life danger to both baby and mother.
