A Medical student at Kottayam medical college Kerala was prescribed Inj. Procaine Penicillin 4 lack units im daily for 5 days. She went to injection room with the prescription. Sister at the injection room administered her the prescribed injection IM but before she removed the needle the medico collapsed and died in the inj room before any attempt to revive her was initiated.
What was the cause of instant death? Could it be prevented by Test dose? What is the stepwise treatment if she had not died but gone into shock?
