CCTV cameras installed on the premises of private nursing home in the city from where a baby was kidnapped on Thursday helped police identify the woman abductor, demonstrating the need for hospitals to tighten their security arrangements. City police have decided to give strict instructions to all private health centres to intensify their surveillance of strangers in the premises for the safety of the inmates. The woman who took the baby on Thursday was clad in burqa, with everything covered except for her eyes.

Initially, it was difficult to identify the person. "We could spot her hand bag, the colour and design of the burqa, the baby mat and the face of the child in the CCTV footage, which helped us confirm the identity of the woman and the baby," inspector V Seetharaman told TOI.
