This happened when I worked night-shifts at a private 30 bedded nursing home.. My first day, after seeing OPD cases., I started on my rounds and I just pulled out one of those case sheets, Dengue season it was.! But as I glanced through the treatment chart, I was kind of perplexed to see.. 'inj. Dexamethasone 2cc 8th hrly..' I thought it must be a mistake, I mean the person must be having an active  infection for god's sake , steroids are the last I would think of..!

inj. Ceftriaxone + sulbactam 1.5gm BD I was starting to believe that there would be a solid reason, like discharging pus or even a history of burning mictuirition was nowhere to be found..! Preventing  secondary super-added infection I suppose.. inj.Ranitidine, inj.Ondansatron, inj.multivitamin, iv PCT, inj.diclo and iv fluids on flow.. This compelled me to look at the brief history written on the front page.., Fever x 3…
