Someone please enlighten with the legal recommendations for the various procedures like pleural effusion aspiration, peritoneal tapping, LP, abscess drainage, laryngoscopy, inserting an ET tube. Inserting a RT. I want to know who can do the procedure s and what pre-investigations are must according to the law. Many of the minor procedures we do at bedside or at minor ot RT or catheterization is done by nurses or orderly.
I am raising this concern as there is a case of penalising a MD in the corporate hospital for doing pleural tapping without USG. It is new to me and equally terrifying. So many days I am doing pleural tapping on clinical and CXR features.
