A randomized, controlled, split-mouth study published in the International Journal of Dental Hygiene evaluated the clinical and biochemical effects of repeated injectable platelet-rich fibrin application into periodontal pockets following scaling and root planing. Twenty patients with Stage III Grade B periodontitis were enrolled. Injectable platelet-rich fibrin was applied to all periodontal pockets at the test sites after scaling and root planing and repeated after 2 weeks, while control sites received only sterile saline irrigation.
