The European Respiratory Society defines severe asthma as asthma that requires treatment with a high dose of inhaled corticosteroids and oral corticosteroids. Such patients with severe asthma constitute around 10% of all asthmatic patients. Bronchial thermoplasty is a key therapeutic approach for severely asthmatic patients who are non-responsive to conventional corticosteroid therapy. This technique can significantly decrease the incidence of asthma-related adverse events and the duration of hospitalization. However, patient selection and appropriate time of delivery are vital to ensure minimal post-procedural complications.
