Recently, the chief minister of Uttarakhand announced that the government doctors taking post-graduation courses who opt to serve in hilly remote areas for the entire course would get full salary benefits from the state government. The said decision has been taken to ensure the doctors with all the necessary comfort provisions so that they would not deter from serving in the hilly and remote areas. The CM also mentioned that the government is planning to increase the retirement of the age of government doctors to meet the requirement of government hospitals.

While confirming the same announcement, the director-general of the health department has urged the doctors to choose medical practice in the hill region and remote areas for effective health outputs throughout the state.
