Mid-way through a written exam, a 23-year-old final year medical student requested the invigilator that he wanted to take his medicine lying in his bag outside the exam hall. The invigilator accompanied him and saw the student consuming a tablet of propranolol. The student had no prescription for that drug and apparently took it to control his anxiety.

Is it acceptable? Could there be a medico-legal issue here?
