Recently I read about a news on times of India that government officials are trying to get bed reservation for poor in private hospitals, and want private hospitals to share patient load with government hospitals. This is due to the limited resources available in government hospitals, state run government hospitals have failed to provide proper services. In addition, these hospitals are crowded with mostly 1 bed for 3 patients.
Due to this, poor population of our country does not receive proper healthcare provisions. However, such reservations will decrease the treatment standards provided in private hospitals and may also lead to increase in medical charges for other patients that are paying to get treatment. Do you think this a practical and justified solution to our healthcare crisis?
