Transmission of COVID-19 is possible while providing emergency care, rescue and transport. Effective infection prevention and control in healthcare settings are at high priority in this phase of the pandemic. This article provides information about a recent Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) released by the Ministry of Health, Government of India (GOI), regarding the transport of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19. As a part of the required procedures, all suspected cases of COVID-19 are required to be transported to an isolation facility.
People who are in close contact with suspected/confirmed cases are at a high risk of infection. These also include ambulance drivers and technicians.
